Choreography Project Update:

Dear Choreography Project Supporters,
After eight years of operation, the Choreography Project Board of Directors has made the very difficult decision to sunset the organization. We are incredibly thankful to all participants, mentors, volunteers, staff, and donors of Choreography Project over the years, and are proud of what our organization achieved in such a short period of time.
Founded by Hannah Klinkman and Louisa Mejeur as Rhode Island Women’s Choreography Project (RIWCP) and initially launched in 2018 with support from Festival Ballet Providence (now Ballet RI), Choreography Project has empowered and elevated many artistic voices. Through mentorship programs, performance opportunities, and the August residencies, choreographers from traditionally underrepresented gender identities were given a platform to shine. The community shared between participating artists and local dance leaders each year was special and meaningful, and we hope that Choreography Project’s legacy long outlasts its sunsetting.
Any remaining assets will be donated in equal parts to two wonderful organizations that align with our core mission:

-
The Women’s Fund of Rhode Island invests in women and girls through research, advocacy, grant making and strategic partnerships designed to achieve gender equity, and was one of the first organizations we partnered with as a budding fiscally sponsored project in 2019.
-
Dance Data Project is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting gender equity in the dance industry through transparent, metrics-based analysis, and has been working toward similar goals to us since our inception.
Thank you for your contributions to Choreography Project and your belief in its mission over the years! You made this wonderful journey possible!
With gratitude,
The Choreography Project Board of Directors
